United Tunneling delivered a series of trenchless installations across Putaruru, covering rail, highway, and local road crossings. The works required a mix of microtunneling and auger boring methods to suit different ground conditions, depths, and infrastructure constraints.
The first stage involved 36 metres of 400mm steel caisson microtunneled at 4.0 metres depth beneath the Kinleith dual rail line, requiring precise alignment and strict control beneath live rail infrastructure.
The second stage included 108 metres of 560mm SDR13.6 PE pipe installed 3.0 metres beneath State Highway 1, delivering a controlled crossing beneath a key transport route with minimal surface disruption.
The final stage involved 114 metres of 300mm PVC restraint pipe microtunneled beneath local roads, completing a series of urban installations in a confined and active environment.
Across all stages, trenchless methods were selected to minimise disruption above ground while ensuring accurate and reliable underground installation.
